This game has the same old school graphics as the arcade version, so if you're looking for an updated game that'll take full advantage of the graphics capabilities of the Wii (or any other gaming platform for that matter) you will be disappointed. But, buy this game once and save yourself a few trips to Dave & Busters. So it's a trade off. Personally, I like it.
If you like old arcade games then this game would be great for you. It is fun sometimes but I get tired of playing the same board over and over because you cant save it. I assumed it would be this way when i bought it so no big deal.
You're given a shotgun instead of a pistol, which makes taking out the demon spawn much easier. That being said, your level of success will be somewhat dependent on the type of Wii gun you choose (I suppose you could play without one, but why.). Let me say that both games are a fairly accurate reproduction of the arcade versions. There is also a setting to limit the amount of gore (which is rather cartoony, anyways), and to change the blood from red to green. I don't have experience using the Wii Zapper; I have some generic pistol-like model. I will say it takes time to get the calibration accurate; but once that's done, you're on your way to blastin' some ZOMBIES.House of the Dead 3 is the better of the two, in my opinion. To sum up the best parts:(1) An amazing cast of voice actors(2) Non-stop zombie mayhem(3) Essentially plays like the arcade, with the off-screen reloading feature(4) An ideal party game, as 2 people can play together while the rest die laughing at the hilarious acting(5) It's cheap. The worst parts:(1) As with any Wii game, the graphics stink. But since it's an older game, it matches what you see in the arcade fairly well(2) Calibrating your weapon can be trickyA must-have for fans of the arcade versions.
It will frustrate you more than anything. I haven't gotten to try the House of Dead 3 that is included in this game yet, since I'm still trying to get through 2 since there are no save points.
After getting quite a ways into the game and losing all my credits, found out you can't save the game. Everytime you play the game and you lose all your credits, you have to start from the very beginning.
After recently buying House of Dead Overkill- which was a lot of fun and you could save the game, we bought House of Dead 2&3. You'd think for training it would be easier because it's supposed to help you, well it is more frustrating than anything because they made it so difficult.
That is very frustrating if you get a long ways into the game and find out you have to start over from the beginning all the time. Also some of the training modes are extremely difficult.
Unless you just enjoy repeating a game from the beginning over and over til you beat it, I suggest you avoid getting this game. If you want a good zombie shooting game, get the House of Dead Overkill- at least you can save the game.
My family loves this game. We've been having a great time killing mutants and helping each other. Great buy.
